The casing is designed to reflect, rather than absorb, heat that comes from the machine's heating element. This means that although the heater is operating at maximum setting, the casing does not turn hot. Thus, it is safe to use even when there are children or pets around the house.
The Vornado EH1-0054-06 has two heating settings you can choose from. Your can opt for the high setting at 1,500 watts or low setting at 750 watts. At maximum, the heater can generate up to 5,118 BTUs per hour, allowing it to heat a small to medium size room, even with a 12-foot-high ceiling, within 15 to 20 minutes.

Owing to the twirling slots, air that comes out of the heater swirls in a vortex. This more quickly spreads out heated air inside the room, warming every nook and cranny, compared to those that flow in a steady stream.
In spite of a fan forcing air out of the heater, the machine runs quietly, making it suitable for the bedroom of people who cannot sleep with noise around. It is also equipped with a tip-over switch that turns the heating elements if it is knocked over.
