Ceramic heaters, like coil heaters, rely on metal coils for the generation of heat. The difference, however, is that in ceramic heaters the heating coils are attached to ceramic plates. The plates absorb heat from the coils and distribute it into the air. Ceramic heaters have the advantage of releasing heat more quickly than coil heaters. Also, they do not get as hot as the coils and cool down faster when the heater is turned off.
For these reasons, not a few persons are switching to ceramic heaters such as the Optimus H-7004 Ceramic Heater. This heater is compact and portable measuring only 7" x 9" x 6" and weighing 5 pounds. It features a contemporary design combining a silver casing with a black mesh grille and top panel. At the top are two dials, one for the different settings and the other for thermostat adjustment.
The ceramic heater has four settings –off, fan, low, and high. The fan setting runs the fan without activating the heater. This is for the summer months or for circulating air in the kitchen when your oven is on. The low setting activates both fan and the heating coils using 750 watts of electricity. The high setting, on the other hand, uses a higher wattage at 1,500, which means that the high adjustment generates twice as much heat as the low. Thus, if outside air is not really that cold, you can set the H-7004 to the low setting and save on your heating bills.
The automatic thermostat regulates temperature levels keeping them within a comfortable range without unnecessarily extending the heater's operation. It shuts the heating coils when the temperature reaches a pre-set upper level only to start it later if it falls below a certain point.
For safety, the thermostat of the Optimus H-7004 Ceramic Heater limits internal heat. The heater is likewise equipped with an overheat protection circuit.
