Relying on 1,500-watt quartz heating elements, Dr Heater DR-968 Infrared Portable Heaters are able to generate 25% more heat than most heaters available in the market. With a BTU rating of 5,200, they can easily and quickly warm a 1,000 square-foot room.
Made of a combination of solid wood and medium-density fiberboard (MDF), the DR-968 looks more like a wood console than a heater. What gives it away is the huge control panel with several buttons to set your desired mode and temperature levels, and a large LCD display below the grille. It stands on casters allowing you to push it effortlessly from one room to another.
The heater features three heating modes, Auto, High, and Low. The Auto mode is designed to maintain a comfortable heat level without pushing your heating bills through the roof. It cycles between the High and Low modes, running the heater at full power until the temperature gets to 2° of the set level, after which it automatically goes to Low mode. When the temperature falls 2° below, it goes back to High mode, thus maintaining a temperature range that keeps you warm and toasty.
Once switched, the heater immediately gets to work, generating heat instantly. This is transferred from the heating elements to the room with the help of a high-pressure blower which, although powerful, operates quietly. Warm air passes through the grilled vent, and it is distributed evenly throughout the room.
Several safety and protective measures are incorporated into the heater. It has a tip over alarm protection system, and a thermal protection system that shuts the heater if it senses overheating. Although it generates enough heat to warm small to medium-sized rooms, it remains cool to the touch keeping your kids and pets safe.
The Dr Heater DR-968 Infrared Portable Heater comes with a remote control so you can change your settings while relaxing on your couch or lying in your bed.
