Concealed electric space heaters come in different forms. Of these, one is the base heater. It is sometimes called "baseboard" heater because it is mounted on the floor where a baseboard or decorative molding concealing the joint between the wall and the floor is normally installed.
The base heater consists of a 1,500-watt Calrod heating element. This is a tubular element sheathed in steel with channel-shaped fins in aluminum. It is made of nickel chrome wire insulated with a ceramic binder. It is through the surface of the fins that heat generated is transferred from the element.
The entire element is encased in a 24 gauge steel box that incorporates an air deflector and cover. To protect the case from rust or corrosion as well as to give it a shiny finish, it is powder coated and heat treated to induce the powder to bond securely to the metal casing. The case measures 6.75" H x 2.5" D x 72" W.
Installing the heater is fast and easy as the rear panel has pre-punched holes spaced one inch apart through which screws can be fastened to the wall. Although designed to sit on the floor, it can actually be wall mounted provided the attaching screws are firmly secured to sturdy braces and that it is not too far from the floor.
The ideal place to install the Cadet Model 09956 Base Electric Heater is below a window. As cold air flows into the house from the window, it falls to the floor. This is met by the warm air rising from the heater, causing the combined air to flow naturally across the room.
The heater operates quietly making it suitable for your bedroom or study. A wall-mount thermostat, or an optional field-mount thermostat kit, allows you to control temperature levels.
